BEYOND THE BRIDGE
Our mental health program (Beyond the Bridge) at Riker’s Island Jail (a daily inmate population of around 14,000) reported that in the first year of implementation, violent incidents among the population receiving our curriculum decreased by 31%, while violent incidents across the facility only decreased by 15%. In an experimental cell unit using our programming at Riker’s Island, violence went down 46% while in a mirror cell unit not using the materials violence went up by almost 500%.
